Trepanācijas tikai privileģētajiem? Latvijas dzelzs laikmeta gadījumu izpēte (7.–10. gs.)

Pētījuma mērķis skaidrot iespējamo trepanāciju saistību Latvijas 7.–10. gs. arheoloģiskajā materiālā ar indivīda sociālo statusu. Rakstā analizētas trepanācijas no Lejasbitēnu, Čunkānu-Dreņģeru un Īdeņu kapulaukiem. Izpēte veikta makroskopiski. Trepanācijas konstatētas septiņiem pieaugušiem vīriešiem un vienā gadījumā nepieaugušam sieviešu dzimtes indivīdam. Vairākumā gadījumu tās veiktas ar kasīšanas metodi. Iespējamais trepanāciju cēlonis galvaskausa traumas. Daļa indivīdu šo operāciju pārdzīvojuši. Indivīdu iespējamais sociālais statuss noteikts, balstoties uz senlietu materiālu gan konkrētā kapulaukā, gan plašākā teritoriālā kontekstā. Vismaz daļa vīriešu, kuriem veikta trepanācija, saistāma ar augstu sociālo statusu tā laika sabiedrībā. Limitējošais izpētes faktors postītie apbedījumi ar nepilnīgu kapa inventāru.
