Abstract

On 4 November 2024, the centenary of the Latvian linguist Marta Rudzīte (1924-1996) was celebrated. Her legacy to the Latvian language is remarkable, especially in dialectology and the study of the history of language. To honour her contribution, the University of Latvia organised a series of events, including commemorative events, scientific conferences and discussions.

An international scientific conference was organised to commemorate the centenary, with the participation of scholars from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Sweden. The themes of the conference were related to the research of the Baltic languages.

Throughout November, events commemorating the centenary of Professor Marta Rudzīte paid tribute to the teacher of many Latvian linguists and her contribution to the study of the Latvian language.
